Ingrid Lahti - Footprints in the Vacuum

site-specific group installation

Footprints in the Vacuum was inspired by Alberto Giacometti's 1932 sculpture, The Palace at 4:00 A.M. "I always loved that piece in the Museum of Modern Art," says Lahti, "and wanted to make a walk-in take on it."

Installed site-specifically at both the FUEL Gallery in Seattle and the Hoffman Gallery at Oregon School of Arts and Crafts (now OCAC) in Portland, Oregon, Footprints was a collaborative project curated by the OK Girls: Edie Carlson, Ingrid Lahti, Harriet Sanderson, and Ruth Tomlinson.

The artists commissioned an ambient soundtrack for the piece by Leo Daedalus.
